Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers about therapy, EMDR, intensives, fees, and getting started.
In our first session, we’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, your goals, and any questions or concerns you have. It’s a space to get to know each other and see if we’re a good fit. You can think of it as an introductory session.
Sessions are typically 50 minutes long. For some clients, extended sessions may be beneficial and can be arranged on a case-by-case basis. These are never assumed and will always be discussed and agreed upon ahead of time to fit your needs and goals.
Most clients attend therapy weekly, especially at the beginning. We’ll decide together what frequency works best for your needs.
My standard fee is $155 per 50-minute individual session. I do not accept insurance, but I can provide a superbill for out-of-network reimbursement. Extended sessions are available at a different rate due to the additional time and limited breaks between sessions. For couples, the standard session is 80 minutes.
Payment is due at the time of the session. I accept cash, credit/debit cards, HSA/FSA, Venmo, and Zelle.
Yes. What you share in therapy stays private, with a few legal exceptions (such as safety concerns or mandated reporting).
You can schedule a session by emailing me at tania@oriyahmentalhealth.com, texting, or calling 602-834-1800.
That’s completely normal. I offer a free consultation so we can talk about your needs and see if working together feels right for you.

Think of EMDR like a mental “reset button.” It helps your brain re-process difficult memories so they lose their emotional intensity. It’s an evidence-based therapy that helps you move past tough experiences and feel better.
EMDR provides rapid, lasting relief by addressing the root causes of emotional distress. Its gentle yet science-backed approach empowers you to heal from trauma, anxiety, or depression—building resilience and overall well-being.
Reactions vary: some people feel tired, emotional, or even a little nauseous; others experience a physical release of tension. It often feels cleansing. If you feel raw afterward, we can discuss options to make sure you’re fully supported.
EMDR focuses on restoring wholeness, which aligns naturally with many faith traditions that emphasize healing and renewal. We can integrate your spiritual values into a holistic approach that honors both mind and soul.
EMDR suits teens and adults who can engage in the process and follow the therapist’s guidance. It’s used for trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, and more.
EMDR has eight phases—history, preparation, assessment, desensitization, installation, body scan, closure, and reevaluation. Processing one traumatic event may take one or several sessions. Although EMDR can work faster than other therapies, speed is never the main goal.
You’ll focus on a specific event and its emotions while I guide you through eye movements, taps, or sounds. These sets repeat until the memory feels less upsetting. You remain in control throughout and can pause anytime.
An EMDR Intensive is an extended, focused therapy session designed to accelerate healing. Instead of shorter weekly sessions, intensives are offered in 3-hour blocks, letting us dive deep into your goals without the stop-and-go of traditional therapy.
Weekly sessions can feel too slow when you’re carrying trauma or deep emotional pain. Working in a concentrated format means many clients notice relief and meaningful change after just a few intensives.
A note on cost: although intensives are a larger upfront investment, faster breakthroughs often mean you won’t need months—or years—of ongoing weekly therapy.
- Individual EMDR Intensive: focused trauma work tailored to your goals.
- Recent Trauma EMDR Intensive: for events that occurred within the last 90 days.
- Evaluative EMDR Intensive for Couples: a trauma-informed deep dive into relationship patterns, attachment wounds, or recent ruptures.
Pricing begins at $600 per 3-hour block. Your total investment depends on the number of blocks and days you choose.
Absolutely. Out-of-state clients are welcome to travel in for an intensive, and we’ll coordinate via telehealth beforehand.
Intensives consist of 3-hour blocks of focused trauma work, scheduled over 2 to 5 days. Some clients do two blocks per day, while others prefer multiple blocks with breaks in between.
Intensives suit highly motivated individuals seeking faster, deeper results than weekly therapy can offer—especially those feeling stuck, pressed for time, or facing recent or unresolved trauma.
No worries—I offer a free 15-minute consultation to explore your needs, readiness, and goals, pressure-free.
